Start your adventure at Gardens by the Bay. This iconic garden features the mesmerising Supertree Grove, Cloud Forest, and Flower Dome. Kids will love the Far East Organization Children’s Garden, complete with water play areas and treehouses.

Top Tip: The main play area is closed from Monday to Wednesday so plan around this (and pack dry clothes!) if you want your little ones to have a splash there.

Sentosa Island

Sentosa is a paradise for families. Visit Universal Studios Singapore for an action-packed day of rides and shows. Adventure Cove Waterpark and S.E.A. Aquarium are also must-see attractions. For a quieter experience, relax on the island’s pristine beaches. Many families base themselves on Sentosa Island for the duration of their stay however more budget friendly accommodation options can be found in the city.

Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

Singapore Zoo: A great place to start discovering Singapore with kids

The Singapore Zoo is renowned for its open-concept habitats, allowing visitors to get up close with animals. The Night Safari offers a unique experience to see nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat. One of the things we loved about the zoo is the amount of projects and support groups that your ticket money goes to around the world.

Top tip: The KidsZone area was far less busy for food than the centrally located Ah Meng restaurant and has a KFC to satisfy those fussy eaters!

Marina Bay Sands

No trip to Singapore is complete without visiting Marina Bay Sands. Enjoy panoramic views of the city from the SkyPark Observation Deck. The ArtScience Museum and Spectra Light & Water Show are also highlights when discovering Singapore with kids. We watched the light show from the promenade and it was one of the highlights for our little rascals.

Top tip: there is a Food Court downstairs in ‘The Shoppes’ mall catering for a variety of tastes and budgets.

Singapore Flyer

Take a ride on the Singapore Flyer, one of the world’s largest observation wheels. The 30-minute journey offers breathtaking views of the city skyline, Marina Bay, and even parts of Malaysia and Indonesia on clear days. When discovering Singapore with kids, it is a great way to get your bearings on the city.

Top Tip: Aim to take a ride at sunset for breathtaking views of the city.

Chinatown

Chinatown is a vibrant neighborhood that blends rich heritage with modern attractions, making it a must-visit for families. Begin your journey at the Chinatown Heritage Centre to learn about the area’s history and culture. Wander through the bustling streets lined with traditional shophouses, where you can shop for unique souvenirs and sample delicious local snacks.

Visit the majestic Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, which offers a fascinating glimpse into Buddhist culture. For a more immersive experience, join a walking tour that highlights Chinatown’s hidden gems and historical sites. No visit to Chinatown is complete without a visit to Maxwell Food Court where kids can try a variety of hawker dishes, including the famous chicken rice.

Whilst the area is probably more suitable for older children, our little ones loved shopping for souvenirs on the market lanes.

Tips on Where to Stay

When it comes to family-friendly accommodations, Singapore offers a variety of options to suit different budgets.

  • Luxury Stay: Marina Bay Sands provides unparalleled luxury with its iconic infinity pool and family-friendly amenities. It is also perfectly located to enjoy some of Singapore’s top attractions.
  • Mid-Range: Village Hotel Sentosa offers comfortable rooms, a family pool, and easy access to Sentosa’s attractions.
  • Budget-Friendly: Hotel Boss is centrally located, providing easy access to public transport and nearby attractions. Alternatively there are a number of hostels that offer family rooms or pods for 4 people and a private bathroom.

How to Get Around the City

When discovering Singapore with kids, the city’s efficient public transport system makes getting around the city a breeze.

  • MRT (Mass Rapid Transit): The MRT is the quickest way to navigate the city. It connects major attractions and neighborhoods seamlessly. You can get Tourist Passes for 1/2/3 days or use your Apple Pay or contactless card for easy access and paying for one off trips (A different card is needed per person). Top Tip: Children 4 and under ride for free. Approach a ticket kiosk to obtain your free pass.
  • Buses: Complement your MRT trips with the extensive bus network. Buses are comfortable and provide a scenic view of the city.
  • Taxis and Ride-Sharing: For convenience, taxis and ride-sharing services like Grab are readily available. They are a bit pricier but perfect for families with young children to avoid crowded stations and enjoy a door/ to door service.
  • Walking and Cycling: Many attractions are within walking distance of each other. The city is also becoming more bike-friendly with dedicated cycling paths and bikes to hire, many of which have kids seats. We hired two bikes using the Anywheels App which has convenient drop off stations all over the city. Hello Ride is another app for a similar experience.

Final Tips for a Smooth Family Adventure

  • Stay Hydrated and Pack Light: Singapore’s tropical climate means it can get hot and humid. Carry water bottles and dress in light, breathable clothing. Be prepared for sudden downpours by packing a poncho or small umbrella.
  • Plan Your Day: Many of the top attractions offer online tickets. This can save time and avoid long queues with your kids.
  • Explore Local Cuisine: Don’t miss the local food at hawker centers. They offer a wide variety of affordable and delicious meals that even the pickiest eaters will enjoy.

Conclusion

Singapore is a fantastic destination for family adventures. With its diverse attractions, convenient transportation, and family-friendly accommodations, you’re sure to create unforgettable memories. So pack your bags, grab the kids, and get ready to explore the Lion City!
